Federal government kills thousands of current and future Yucca jobs in favor of underwhelming number of subsidized ‘green’ jobs
In an effort led by Sen. Reid, the federal government has killed thousands of current and future Yucca jobs and replaced them with an underwhelming number of 'green' jobs.

Nevada’s ‘aggressive’ renewable energy standards drain ratepayers
Nevada's 'aggressive' green energy standards are draining ratepayers of a lot of green.

The East Coast blizzards show the vacuousness of global-warming alarmists — but not in the way you might think.
Is Energy Summit about ends or means?
Gore, Reid and political allies pushing global warming propaganda in Nevada
On August 10, former President Bill Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore, current Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and a gaggle of political supporters and rent-seekers will descend on Las Vegas for what is being called a "National Clean Energy Summit." Speakers will doubtlessly tout the virtue of forcing taxpayers to subsidize less reliable and more expensive energy sources such as wind and solar power, in order to address the perceived problem of global warming.
Cap-and-trade conflicts with Nevada’s mandates
State renewable portfolio standard incompatible with 'market-based' scheme
Last week the U.S. House of Representatives passed the 1,200-page Waxman-Markey "American Clean Energy and Security Act" to impose new taxes on energy use. The bill is a cap-and-trade scheme that would artificially limit the amount of carbon dioxide that can be emitted by energy users from the combustion of fossil fuels. The bill would essentially create an energy rationing scheme that would require energy producers to acquire costly ration coupons for each ton of carbon dioxide they emit.
Foe of the environment? Back ‘renewable energy’
Government production quotas impose costs and increase emissions
"Renewable" energy is all the rage in the halls of Congress and the Nevada Legislature. Lawmakers are pushing for higher and higher production quotas for the centrally planned electric utility industry. They would require government-controlled electric utility monopolies to produce greater shares of electricity through renewable energy sources such as wind or solar power. The problem with this so-called "visionary" approach to energy policy is that it isn't visionary at all.
Forcing you to buy what you don’t want
Governor pushes for higher, hidden energy tax
Gov. Gibbons went before the Senate Committee on Energy, Infrastructure and Transportation on Tuesday to testify on behalf of his administration's bill, SB 395. The bill would, among other things, expand the scope of renewable-energy projects within the state that qualify for tax abatements.
Putting utilities on the dole
Why subsidies for renewable energy are a bad idea
Nevada Senator Harry Reid is among those pushing a bill through Congress that would extend the federal government's biggest subsidy for renewable energy sources – the Production Tax Credits program.
In the red ... from going green
Environmental extremism threatens Nevada's economic health.
Federal laws prohibiting the drilling for fossil fuels punish no state in the union more than Nevada. Not that there is any oil or gas to drill for in the Silver State. It's just that nobody is walking or riding his bike into Las Vegas or Reno to tempt Lady Luck.
