Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford opposes new taxes

No joke. Unfortunately, his opposition is highly nuanced:

"Cutting teacher salaries is the same thing as putting a tax on teachers of the state. We can do better."

So if we can do better than "putting a tax on teachers of the state," will Majority Leader Horsford do all he can to stop putting taxes on, well, everybody in the state?

Let's hope so.

It will be interesting to see whether Horsford continues with this "pay cut = tax increase" mentality throughout the Legislative Session.

Bonus quote from the Majority Leader:

"The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works—whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified."

Since when is it the government's job to help people find a job, care or dignified (and who defines this?) retirement? Hint: It's not.
