Timothy Geithner's national leadership on fiscal accountability is inspiring state lawmakers across the country.
Recently, a state lawmaker in North Carolina filed a bill called the "Geithner Tax Fairness for N.C. Citizens Act." If passed, the bill would allow state residents who owe $50,000 or less in back taxes to avoid late penalties. The lawmaker is quoted as saying, "If he got that benefit, I think the average citizen should get the same courtesy."
He has argued that similar legislation should be considered by Congress.
