How Nevada's legislature will try and force a tax increase on Nevada in the next three weeks
Instead of releasing a tax plan and letting the public have an honest, open debate, legislative leaders are poised to spend the next three weeks quoting a lot of confusing budget numbers, fear mongering and issuing dubious calls for sacrifice. They hope these tactics will confuse, scare or guilt you into accepting a record or near-record tax increase.
The calls for tax increases are already coming, and coming fast. That's because Nevada's legislators must pass their tax increases within the next three weeks in order to have time to override Gov. Gibbons' promised veto.
When Nevada's politicians start talking, compare what they say to this picture. It clearly shows Nevada has a spending problem, not a tax-collecting problem.
